More and more California parents are learning about their state’s mandatory sex-ed curriculum in public schools, and now many of them are engaging in civil disobedience to protest.

Informed Parents of California has announced parents are keeping their children home as part of a sit-out day planned for today, May 17.

Their target is the California Healthy Youth Act and in particular the graphic public school lessons that have been likened to child pornography.

Informed Parents founder Stephanie Yates tells OneNewsNow that California children are not getting a birds-and-the-bees lesson.

“We’re dealing with a radical agenda,” she warns, “and to deal with a radical agenda that they’re pushing, we have to take radical action.”

Parents in 40 of the state’s 58 counties have told Informed Parents they are participating today, and there are protests planned at the board of education buildings across the state.

Many public school teachers don’t deserve blame for the graphic curriculum, Yates says, because the push is coming from the far-left teachers union, the National Education Association, which is bullying teachers to support it.

“We’re actually trying to be a voice for them since they can’t be a voice for themselves right now,” she says of California’s teachers. “So we’re being a voice for our children and we’re being a voice for our educators that are horrified about what’s going on.”
