It’s not fake news! Abortions are at an all-time low since 1973.

That was the year the United States Supreme Court ruled on Roe v. Wade – and estimates are that nearly 61 million babies have been aborted in the U.S. since that fateful ruling. But there are indications the abortion rate in America is on a continued decline.

“Abortions were down two percent last year, according to new numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and 24 percent fewer abortions over the last ten-year period,” says Steven Ertelt, editor of LifeNews.com. “Obviously that’s a lot more babies saved from abortion, which is great news.”

Contraception has been pointed to as a cause for the decline, but Ertelt says Planned Parenthood’s own figures show the abortion giant is giving away fewer contraceptives than ever before, while the number of abortions remain the same.

“So what we know to be true is this: Pro-life pregnancy centers … are making a real difference,” Ertelt continues. “They’re providing actual, practical help for women who are facing a variety of pregnancy situations – and that life-saving work is making a difference.”
