Latest 'Homosexual Rendezvous' Scandal Shows 'Sexual Deviancy Not Partisan,' Says Activist

Jim Brown, OneNewsNow.com, August 30, 2007

A spokesman for a Washington pro-family group says if allegations that Senator Larry Craig (R-Idaho) was cruising for an "anonymous homosexual rendezvous" in a public restroom are true, the incident is symptomatic of a much larger problem in America.

Senator Craig was arrested in June in connection with a police sting operation of lewd conduct in a men's room at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Although Craig pled guilty to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge soon after the arrest, he now claims he "was not involved in any inappropriate conduct."

Matt Barber is policy director for cultural issues at Concerned Women for America. He says anonymous homosexual sex in public restrooms is a national problem, noting Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle who has angered homosexual activists with his efforts to crack down on such activity http://www.onenewsnow.com/2007/08/florida_mayor_stands_firm_on_f.php

"Not all men who self-identify as homosexual, or who engage in homosexual behaviors, take part in these types of anonymous homosexual rendezvous -- but we know that statistics show that a lot of them do," says Barber. "And I think that people need to consider how they might feel if one of their children were to walk in at a park, or an airport, or elsewhere into a restroom and walk into this type of behavior. Something needs to be done about it."

Barber says there are now several high-profile cases of politicians being caught "soliciting or engaging in homosexual sex in public." He also cited former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevy's memoirs in which McGreevy admitted to engaging in homosexual sex in public truck stop restrooms. According to one Minnesota news outlet, the restroom where Senator Craig was arrested is "well known among men who seek sex in public places."

In response to the charges, Senator Craig said in a press conference that he was "not involved in any inappropriate conduct at the Minneapolis airport or anywhere else." He also stated that he is "not gay" and that he never has been.

According to Craig, his decision to plead guilty to the charges was a "poor decision," and he explains that he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in the hope of "making it go away." He concluded his conference stating that he has now "retained counsel to examine this matter."
