WASHINGTON, DC – Two leading pro-life groups are working to motivate millions of voters to support pro-life candidates ahead of the midterm elections.

So much is at stake. If pro-lifers win a few more seats in the U.S. Senate and maintain their majority in the House, Americans could see a ban on late-term abortions after 20 weeks, measures to defund the abortion giant Planned Parenthood and other life-saving efforts become law.

Two leading players in the upcoming election are the Susan B. Anthony List and the National Right to Life Committee. Politico highlighted their efforts this week.

Right now, SBA List has more than 500 canvassers knocking on doors in Ohio, Florida, Missouri, Indiana, West Virginia and North Dakota, hoping to reach 1.6 million voters, according to the report. Both also are running political ads and other educational efforts in key swing states.

“It is very clear that there is a sizable pro-life base that can deliver victories on the margins,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA List, told the news outlet.

Here’s more from the report:

Specifically, Republicans are tagging Democratic incumbents as supporters of late-term abortion and taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood. Even as national Democrats organize like never before around threats to abortion rights and Trump’s judicial picks, Republicans looking at the narrow, more conservative Senate map see a different picture that they believe tilts toward them on this key issue.

But Republicans aren’t just “tagging” Democrats as radical abortion supporters. Many are. Josh Harder, a California Democrat running against a pro-life U.S. Congressman, admitted to supporting abortions for any reason up to birth and wanting to force taxpayers to fund them – two issues that are widely unpopular with Americans. The Democrat Party platform supports these radical issues as well.

Several Senate races are being watched closely by pro-life and pro-abortion groups.

According to the report:

In particular, Republicans think the issue could give them a significant boost in West Virginia, North Dakota, Indiana and Missouri — red states that voted for Trump but have Democratic senators — as well as Tennessee. Earlier this week, the Tennessee Republican Party posted video of former Gov. Phil Bredesen expressing support for Planned Parenthood, and criticized him as out of touch with the state. Last month, Susan B. Anthony List and the NRSC both aired TV ads attacking Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia over a vote against defunding Planned Parenthood.

In North Dakota, the NRSC also ran digital ads attacking Sen. Heidi Heitkamp for appearing to high-five Minority Leader Chuck Schumer after a vote against a 20-week abortion ban (Politifact ruled the attack false). They also ran a TV ad criticizing Heitkamp for the vote in August.

Tennessee’s race has pro-life leader Marsha Blackburn versus Bredesen for the open Senate seat. Blackburn led the U.S. House investigation against Planned Parenthood for its handling of aborted baby body parts, and has been a strong fighter for unborn babies in Congress.

Other races include Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey Jr., a Democrat who claims to be pro-life but almost always votes with his pro-abortion party. His challenger, U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta, is pro-life.

Pro-life groups are working against huge political spending campaigns by pro-abortion groups. Two, Planned Parenthood and Emily’s List, alone are spending more than $50 million on the midterm elections.

But pro-life voters are a powerful demographic. A post-election poll by the Polling Company/Women Trend in 2016 found that 49 percent of voters said the abortion issue affected their vote. Of those, 31 percent “voted for the candidates who oppose abortion (pro-life),” while only 18 percent “voted for the candidates who favor abortion (pro-choice).” This was a 13-percent advantage for the pro-life candidate.
