Reasons Behind Drop in Abortions? Let’s Be Honest … by Charlie Butts

Americans are responding positively to the efforts of the dedicated pro-life community and their message of life – not to abortion.

The Alan Guttmacher Institute, an ally of the abortion industry, has issued its expected report stating that abortions are down again and at an all-time low since abortion was legalized nationally in 1973. The reasons are several, says the Institute, but suggests that among them are “improvements in contraceptive use and increases in the number of individuals relying on self-managed abortions outside of a clinical setting” (i.e., chemical abortions).

In contrast, Carol Tobias of the National Right to Life Committee says a primary reason for the drop is that the pro-life movement has been educating the public for well over 40 years.

“People find out that unborn babies, once they reach a certain age, can feel pain,” she explains. “[They learn] that unborn babies are being killed through dismemberment, dying as their arms and legs are torn off; [and] women are getting information about abortion and that it can increase your chances of breast cancer.”

Also, as Tobias explains, women are learning that even if they take the first pill in the chemical abortion regimen, they might be able to reverse its effect and give their preborn child a chance at life outside the womb. ….
