Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) publicly threatening harm to two Supreme Court justices — “you will pay the price” — can “feed hate” and “lead to violence,” said Rev. Franklin Graham in denouncing the senator’s recent statements.
On March 4, at a pro-abortion rally in front of the U.S. Supreme Court, which was then hearing arguments in an abortion-related case, Sen. Schumer took to the podium and said, “I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh — you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”
Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh are associate justices on the Supreme Court, appointed by President Donald Trump, and they are considered to be “originalist” in their interpretation of the Constitution, i.e., this is what the Founders wrote, nothing more, nothing less.
In a March 5 post on Facebook, Rev. Graham said, “It’s really sad and concerning that Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer would threaten these conservative Supreme Court justices. He went too far.”
“Now he has tried to reel his comments back in, but statements like his can feed hate and can lead to violence,” said Graham. ….
