Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

This is my 500th. Day in Office and we have accomplished a lot – many believe more than any President in his first 500 days. Massive Tax & Regulation Cuts, Military & Vets, Lower Crime & Illegal Immigration, Stronger Borders, Judgeships, Best Economy & Jobs EVER, and much more…

However, Trump didn’t mention one area where he has major, positive impact: The cause for life.

Trump’s Pro-Life Actions

On Monday, the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA) proclaimed Trump the most “pro-life” president ever. Here are some of the pro-life actions Trump has taken during his first 500 days in office, as cited by SBA:

  • Appointed pro-life judges. Neil Gorsuch was confirmed to the Supreme Court. Four judges have been confirmed to U.S. Courts of Appeals and two district court judges were confirmed. Fifty-four nominees are moving through the Senate.

  • Allowed states to defund Planned Parenthood of Title X family planning funds. Trump reversed Obama’s rule that forbid states from doing so.

  • Reinstated the “Mexico City Policy.” The policy keeps taxpayer dollars from funding overseas abortions for all global health spending. Trump’s policy keeps $8.8 billion of overseas aid from funding abortion.

  • Cut taxpayer funding for United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA), which has been known to help China in its birth limitation policies and forced abortions.

  • Required health insurance companies to disclose if they pay for abortions.

  • Enacted a new rule that provides permanent relief from Obama’s HHS mandate for religious and moral objectors. It also exempts private employers and colleges from providing contraceptives or abortifacient drugs due to their sincerely held religious beliefs.

  • Appointed pro-life people to key positions: VP Mike Pence, AG Jeff Sessions, Kellyanne Conway, Charmaine Yoest and Teresa Manning at HHS.

  • Rescinded Obama-era guidance preventing states from defunding Planned Parenthood of Medicaid money. States may now defund Planned Parenthood of Medicaid funds as they desire.

  • Created the Conscience and Religious Freedom Division within the Office for Civil Rights. The office is designed to protect health care professionals who don’t want to participate in abortion.

  • Implemented the “Protect Life Rule.” The Protect Life Rule cut taxpayer funding under the Title X program for any clinic that performs abortions or refers patients to abortion clinics.

Trump also took two pro-life actions not mentioned by SBA. He:

  • Tried to stop underage illegal immigrants from having abortions. Lower courts ruled against the administration. However, on Monday, the Supreme Court sided with Trump, throwing out a lower court decision that allowed an illegal immigrant teen to get an abortion while in Federal custody.

  • Changed the wording of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Strategic Plan for 2018-2022. It now reads, “A core component of the HHS mission is the dedication to serve all Americans from conception to natural death (emphasis added).

Under this president, the cause for life is — to borrow his favorite word — “winning.”
