Washington, DC – Catholic bishops across the U.S. are urging Americans to send “a strong, clear message” to Congress that tax dollars should not be spent to kill unborn babies in abortions.

Catholic News Service reports Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark, New Jersey, and others are speaking out after President Joe Biden released a 2022 budget plan that eliminates the long-standing Hyde Amendment.

“It is crucially important that we send a strong, clear message that the Hyde Amendment has far-reaching public support and should not be repealed,” Tobin wrote in a July 6 letter to his archdiocese. “Members of Congress need to hear from as many of us as possible.” …
