Brad Mattes: A ‘Demonic Presence’ in Abortion Battle, Satan’s Way ‘To Drag Souls to Hell’

Life Issues Institute President Brad Mattes, whose group is the pro-life grassroots partner of the Susan B. Anthony List, said that part of the problem in the abortion battle in the United States is that there is a “demonic presence” throughout the struggle that blinds many people from the truth of abortion. In this way, said Mattes, Satan is able to “drag souls to Hell.”

Mattes, whose daily Life Issues commentary is carried on nearly 1,200 U.S. radio stations,  made his remarks during an April 4 interview on VCY America’s Crosstalk radio, hosted by Jim Schneider.

In response to a caller’s question about the fetal heartbeat and a developing baby’s blood system, Mattes said that technology is helping the pro-life cause because, thanks to ultrasound and other tools, people can see the human baby developing in the womb. Science is affirming the reality and dignity of human life from the moment of conception.

However, Mattes also said there are forces at work that do not want people to see the truth.

“But also keep in mind that there is a demonic presence in the abortion battle,” said Mattes. “Satan, this is one of his most effective tools to drag souls to Hell, and he’s not going to give up any ground without a fight.”

“So what may seem totally unreasonable to us, we have to understand that Satan has blinded a great number of people into not seeing the truth of abortion,” said Mattes, “just as he did with slavery so many years ago, just as he did with the Holocaust in Europe.”

“We understand there’s a demonic presence,” he said, “and that’s why prayer is a very important tool also.”
