By Catholic News Agency - On Wednesday, nations from around the world can be consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in a liturgy to be celebrated at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima, built in the place where in 1916 and 1917 the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three Portuguese children… In response to the global coronavirus pandemic, the Portuguese bishops’ conference announced last week they would reconsecrate Portugal to Christ and Mary on the evening of March 25. Shortly after the announcement, the Spanish bishops’ conference requested that their country also be consecrated in the same liturgy.

There are also the three “theological” virtues: Faith, Hope, and Love. But for now, I wish to focus on the classic four. I want to suggest that, when we try to embody those virtues in our lives, much depends on whom we take to be the model of that virtue… There are many ways in which any particular virtue can be expressed. A judge can be just or not just, but so can a teacher, mother, or shop owner.

By Sue Ellen Browder, EWTN News - The global coronavirus pandemic has made it clear how interconnected, vulnerable and fragile mankind is--and how undivided we are in our unity against death.  As fear of this disease haunts Americans' minds and hearts to the point it's paralyzing our nation, I'm reminded how many times Christ told us, "Be not afraid," and I feel compelled to ask a serious question. If we as Catholics truly believe that when we receive Christ in the Eucharist we’re receiving “the fountain of immortality,” shouldn’t we be more stouthearted in the face of this news than the secular culture around us is?
