Saint of the Day for October 1: St Thérèse of Lisieux (Jan. 2, 1873 – Sept. 30, 1897)

These are the words of Thérèse of Lisieux, a Carmelite nun called the “Little Flower,” who lived a cloistered life of obscurity in the convent of Lisieux, France. And her preference for hidden sacrifice did indeed convert souls. Few saints of God are more popular than this young nun. Her autobiography, The Story of a Soul, is read and loved throughout the world.

There Still Exists a Powerful Relic Connected to St. Michael the Archangel

This became known as the Sanctuary of Monte Sant’Angelo sul Gargano, more commonly referred to as Monte Gargano. It is one of the oldest shrines dedicated to St. Michael and was the center of Christian pilgrimages... St. Michael said to the bishop, “I am the archangel Michael, and I have chosen to dwell in that place on earth and to keep it safe.”

Holy See-China Agreement Draws Criticism From US Religious Freedom Advocates
