And what we know about Satan, of course, is that he was doing it from the beginning. He’s a murderer, too, if we are to believe Jesus, who tells us as much in the Gospel of John (8:44): He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the Father of Lies.

So the massive federal agencies that is targeting pro-life parents and Latin Mass Catholics while leaving our borders unguarded will get their next truckload of money borrowed from China, which our grandchildren will have to repay. And what have conservatives and Christians gotten in return for this?... Not even a mess of pottage.

The most controversial has been the publication of a document in December by a Vatican bishop, with the pope's approval, mooting the "possibility of blessing couples in irregular situations and same-sex couples." While the document stressed that it did not change the church's stance on homosexuality, it brought a joint letter from Catholic clergy and scholars calling on others to disregard it.

Still, it was a shock in curial Rome that Pope Francis chose to cut off his stipend (really a pension, as Burke is retired) and remove his subsidized apartment. It seemed rather beneath the dignity of the papal office. And of course it invites future comparison when other cardinals maintain their pensions and apartments.
