It does not take much imagination to apply the same principles the bishop identifies to other figures, starting with imagining a “heretical” American president.

Flores, 61, is one of three bishops on the preparatory commission, which also includes three priests and a religious sister... The committee was put together by Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops Cardinal Mario Grech, who will also oversee its work.

That this is heresy according to any real standard of Catholic or Christian faith, no one should doubt. But, as one perceptive observer has noted, the motivating idea behind the architects of the “Synodal Way” is far more radical than any of their individual proposals, as absurd as it may seem.
