By Jules Gomes, Church Militant - An Austrian artist notorious for "pushing the boundaries of sculpture" is having his exhibit of an 80-square-meter purple sweater hung over the baroque high altar for Lent at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna… Erwin Wurm's sweater is meant to replicate the purple veil.. used to cover images of Jesus, especially the crucifix.. during the 40 days of Lent… The sweater, weighing a total of 300 kilos and made in Thailand, is designed to convey the message of a "warming and protective second skin" supposedly alerting worshippers to "the priority of warming love of neighbor," the cathedral's website explains.

By Msgr. Charles Pope - In today’s Gospel the Lord is teaching us, by His grace, to break the cycle of hatred and retribution. When someone harms me I may well become angry, and in my anger seek to get back at the offender. If I do that, though, then Satan has earned a second victory and brought the anger and retribution to a higher level. Most likely, the one who originally harmed me will then take exception to my retribution and try to inflict more harm on me. And so the cycle continues and escalates. Satan loves this.

Wells) murder we learned that the now-bulldozed Mother Seton rectory in Germantown, Maryland had been the site of years of appalling sacrilege and sin. It emerged that two priests, Rev. Paul E. Lavin and Rev. Aaron J. Cote, who had served at Mother Seton, had been credibly accused as sexual predators of teenage boys. Lavin has been stripped of his clerical faculties and Cote, accused of sexual molestation in at least four states and Peru, died in 2012. A third Mother Seton priest, who seems to have vanished from the state of Maryland, is widely known to have been sexually active with other men prior to my uncle's arrival.
