By David Carlin, The Catholic Thing - Not all atheists are the same, and not all atheists are atheistic for the same reason. But given the rise in unbelief among us, it’s useful to examine some of those reasons. So here is a list – in no particular order and doubtless incomplete – of some currently notable motives for atheism. Note, too, that an individual may simultaneously have more than one of these motives.

Accusing the document of nothing less than heresy and apostasy is a cardinal, the German Walter Brandmüller, 90, an illustrious Church historian, president of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences from 1998 to 2009, and coauthor, in 2016, of the famous “dubia” on the correct interpretation and application of “Amoris Laetitia” to which Pope Francis has always refused to respond.

Most everyone was and is in favor of marriage equality because most everyone wants the law to treat all marriages equally… The debate in the United States in the decade and a half before Obergefell v. Hodges wasn’t about equality. It was about marriage. We disagreed about what marriage is… Before you can get to considerations of equal protection of the law, you have to know what it is the law is trying to protect equally… Every law makes distinctions. Equality before the law protects citizens from arbitrary distinctions, from laws that treat them differently for no good reason.

Ohio Removes Planned Parenthood Funding From Budget, Will Fund Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers Instead, by Micaiah Bilger,

By Micaiah Bilger, LifeNews - Ohio lawmakers are nearing final passage of a budget that defunds the nation’s largest abortion provider and increases support for pregnant and parenting moms in the state… Fox News reports the Ohio Senate passed the two-year, $69 billion budget bill last week with a $1.5 million cut in funding to Planned Parenthood annually. The budget also includes $5 million for pregnancy resource centers – five times what the nonprofits have received in the past, according to the report.
