On the Road to the Supreme Court, by Matt Hadro

By Matt Hadro, CNA - The Supreme Court will consider an abortion case this term after it announced on Friday that it will hear a challenge to Louisiana’s abortion law… Louisiana’s Unsafe Abortion Protection Act requires abortionists to have admitting privileges at a local hospital, defined as within 30 miles of the abortion clinic; when then-Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) signed the bill into law in 2014, it was promptly challenged in court… “Abortion activists are more than willing to lower the bar on women’s health in order to expand abortion, but stricter clinic regulations are in the best interest of women,” Jeanne Mancini, president of March for Life, stated on Friday.

Supreme Court Will Rule on Louisiana Pro-Life Law That Could Shut Down Dangerous Abortion Clinics, by Steven Ertelt

By Steven Ertelt, LifeNews - The Supreme Court has announced it will take up a case concerning a pro-life law in Louisiana… The Louisiana law requires abortion providers to have hospital admitting privileges for patient emergencies. Soon after it became law in 2014, the abortion facility Hope Medical Group for Women and the pro-abortion Center for Reproductive Rights challenged it in court… The case will be a good indication of where Chief Justice John Roberts stands on abortion jurisprudence. Roberts, earlier this year, voted with the four liberal justices to block the enforcement of the Louisiana law in February. A ruling in the Louisiana case is due by the end of June.

Obama Judge Blocks Georgia Law Banning Abortions When Unborn Baby’s Heartbeat Begins, by Steven Ertelt, Micaiah Bilger

By Steven Ertelt, Micaiah Bilger, LifeNews - A federal judge nominated by President Barack Obama has blocked a Georgia state law after a legal challenge from the billion-dollar abortion industry… U.S. District Judge Steve C. Jones heard a request from the American Civil Liberties Union to block the state from enforcing the pro-life law until the case goes to trial. Today, he granted that request… “By banning pre-viability abortions, H.B. 481 violates the constitutional right to privacy, which, in turn, inflicts per se irreparable harm on Plaintiffs,” US District Judge Steve Jones wrote in his opinion.
