Fr. Alexander Lucie-Smith: The Time Is Ripe for a Revival in Devotion to the Sacred Heart

By Fr. Alexander Lucie-Smith, Catholic Herald - Contemporary evangelisation calls us to enter into a personal relationship with God. What better aid than the image of Our Lord's wounded Heart?.. God knows, better than anyone, what people are like, and the revelation of God is expressed in a way designed to help our frail human minds receive it… Long before we were people of the book, we were people of the image. Before I could read, my favourite book was the Children’s Bible, and how I loved those pictures – Jonah and the Whale, Adam and Eve walking about in what looked like a greenhouse, and a green-eyed Jesus with flowing blonde locks teaching a group of attentive disciples.

CNA: Catholic Governor Signs Law Enshrining Abortion Access

By Catholic News Agency - Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo signed the Reproductive Privacy Act on Wednesday. The act codifies the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade into state law… The law permits unrestricted access to abortion at any time up to “fetal viability,” a disputed term with no fixed scientific meaning. Even after supposed viability, abortion will still be legal in cases where the life or health of the mother is at risk… Raimondo, a Catholic, said when signing the bill that the abortion issue was a difficult one and that “there are good and principled people on both sides of the issue.”
