An Ohio-based tea party activist is praising President Donald Trump for distancing himself from Dr. Anthony Fauci and for giving a voice to a skeptic of COVID-19.

 

Dr. Fauci, who leads the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has become a leading face of the federal government’s response to the virus. He has largely disappeared from public view in recent weeks but his name came up during President Trump’s Fox News interview with Laura Ingraham.

“You know, you inherit a lot of people. It’s part of the machinery,” Trump said of Dr. Fauci. “And you have some you love, some you don’t.”

Trump went on to insist he likes the medical expert but doesn’t agree with him often.

In recent weeks, Fauci drew criticism for the face mask dangling off his chin at baseball game, and more recently, he and task force colleague Dr. Deborah Birx advised the governors of Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio that their COVID-19 rates risk spiraling out of control.  …
