Attorneys general vs. Democrats

Twenty attorneys general are pushing back against Democrats trying to steal the rights of states to manage their own elections.
In a letter Tuesday, Indiana attorney general Todd Rokita spotlighted many problems with the so-called For the People Act of 2021 or “HR 1”: “The act betrays several constitutional deficiencies and alarming mandates that, if passed, would federalize state elections and impose burdensome costs and regulations on state and local officials.”
Nineteen attorneys general added their names to the correspondence, representing a total of 20 states. HR 1 passed the House on Wednesday, in a vote of 220 to 210.
In addition to Congress stepping on Article I, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, which provides each state with the right to conduct its own elections, Rokita notes, “Perhaps most egregious is the act’s limitations on voter identification laws.” …
