(CNSNews.com) — Commenting on the controversy over an intelligence memo about alleged FBI malfeasance in the 2016 presidential campaign, Center for Security Policy CEO Frank Gaffney called for the document to be released to the public because the “American people have a need to know” what happened behind the scenes, at the FBI, the Justice Department, the Obama White House, and reportedly with the Democratic National Committee, the Hillary Clinton campaign, and the Fusion GPS dossier that is critical of Donal Trump.

“What’s a President to do?” said Gaffney in a Feb. 1 statement  “The House Intelligence Committee has recommended on a party-line vote to release a four-page memorandum that evidently shows serious, if not actually criminal, misconduct by senior FBI and Justice Department officials.  The committee’s Democrats and the agencies concerned are strenuously objecting to the memo’s disclosure.”

“These interested parties are becoming more hysterical by the hour, claiming that the memo is incomplete, selective in its findings, and that it was changed materially after the Committee vote,” he said.  “They insist its release will damage national security.”

“What actually seems more likely is that the release of this memo will further damage the reputation of federal agencies that were, under the Obama administration, politicized,” said Gaffney.  “Their vast powers were abused by top FBI and Justice Department officials for partisan purposes.  The American people have a need to know.”

In conclusion, Gaffney said, “Mr. President, #Release the Memo.”
