WASHINGTON, DC – Melinda Gates told David Letterman that she hopes her philanthropic work will lead to fewer babies being born in Third World countries.

In a recent interview on Letterman’s “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” she explained how her organization is spending millions of dollars on contraception in hopes of seeing “the birth rate decline,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The Gates Foundation has a long history of pushing birth control on some of the world’s poorest countries – though leaders say their people need clean water, food and basic health care. The Gates family says the foundation does not support abortions, but it gives money to some of the largest abortion providers in the world, including the International Planned Parenthood Federation and Marie Stopes International.

Gates told Letterman that her philanthropic work focuses on providing better health care to people in developing countries. This includes eliminating polio and other health crises, but its central mission appears to be focused around reducing the number of babies born in developing countries.

According to the report:

Continuing the topic of women and children, Letterman highlighted a statistic from [Gates’ new] book that indicates childbirth is the single biggest killer of teenage girls. In light of that, Gates is working toward ensuring that contraceptives are easier to obtain in remote parts of the world.

“Here’s how we know [change] is possible; in every country in the world where you’re given access to modern contraceptives, it only takes one generation for them to be fully uptake, and for them to see the birth rate decline. And once they have consistent access, women will use it, and what they’ll also do is they’ll do it covertly without their husband knowing it.”

Unlike taxpayer-funded government entities, Gates said her foundation can take risks with its funding.

“Our foundation uniquely thinks about, where can we uniquely act in the world?” she said. “So a lot of the work we do in the developing world is around health, because if you don’t start with great health, you can’t go on to get a great education and reach your full potential.”

In an interview in 2018, Bill Gates did not hesitate to say population control is their goal. That year, his foundation released a report about its goals of “ending poverty and fighting inequality.” According to The Star, the report suggests measures to shift Africans toward “wanted births or fewer early births as a means to reduce population growth in Africa.”

Gates said they are working toward that goal by increasing access to contraception.

“The biggest thing is the modern tools of contraception,” he said. “There are implants, injections, IUD. And, obviously, if you have those things available, then people are more in control of being able to space their children.”

The Gates family’s work with the abortion industry and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is concerning because of the groups’ record of human rights violations against unborn babies and women.

For example, UNFPA promotes abortions, but it also has been linked to oppressive population control measures in China, including forced sterilizations and abortions.

Another example is the International Planned Parenthood Federation. Earlier this month, explosive allegations reported in the Daily Mail pointed to evidence that IPPF, one of the world’s largest abortion providers, oversaw the hiring of prostitutes for staff, donors and guests attending official functions.

Marie Stopes International, another major recipient of Gates Foundation funding, also has been accused of serious health and safety violations. In 2016, health inspectors found such horrible conditions inside British Marie Stopes facilities that the government temporarily shut down some of the abortion chain’s operations.

Marie Stopes also has been accused of doing hundreds of illegal, unsafe abortions in Africa as well. And in 2017, parents and community leaders in Kitui, Kenya were outraged after learning that Marie Stopes workers allegedly came into their children’s school and implanted long-lasting contraceptive devices into girls as young as 14 without their parents’ knowledge or consent.
