Netflix Film Blasted for Containing ‘Child Porn’

Netflix has drawn more outrage from its subscribers over one of its recently released movies that is being streamed on its site, with many viewers and critics contending that the film, Desire, contains child pornography.

The mainstreaming giant has been the center of much controversy of late – with its new drag queen cartoon series, its 13 Reasons series many argue glorifies teen suicide, and its recent signing of the Obamas to a $50 million contract to do their own series – but its newly offered film, Desire, is accused of being outright illegal by sexually exploiting young children.

“The opening scene of the Argentinian film Desire depicts two young girls under the age of 10 playing around with pillows,” Fox News reported. “The scene takes a sexual turn involving one of the girls.”

PJ Media provided an even more disturbing description of the offensive troubling scene, warning readers about the movie’s despicable content.

‘In the opening scene, two little girls who look to be about seven and nine are playing ‘horse’ on pillows,” PJ Media relayed from the movie. “The older girl begins to obviously [get sexual] as the younger child watches. The camera even takes this scene into a closeup of the child’s face in slow motion … [acting] like a porn star. The scene is graphic and includes [even more sexually explicit content] …”

Netflix’s movie a crime?

A writer for PJ Media announced that she has reported the controversial film as a private citizen to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice (DOJ), contending that Netflix is illegally streaming child pornography.

“I reported it to the FBI and the Department of Justice, who advised me to contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC),” PJ Media reporter Megan Fox informed. “NCMEC told me they have launched an investigation into the movie.”

A clip of the film – directed by Diego Kaplan – has been shared and labeled as outright child porn by viewers on Facebook, but Fox warned good-intended viewers against posting their complaints with an excerpt from the video.

“The clip is making its way around Facebook, but anyone sharing it should be aware that it is a crime to circulate child porn – even if you are trying to get help for the child,” Fox advised. “Any further distribution revictimizes the child, and because of that, PJM will not share the video or photos from the movie that show the victims’ faces – the only thing the public can do is report it to the authorities.”

She contended that the law coming straight out of the DOJ clearly defines child pornography, confirming that the film’s illicit content.

“Section 2256 of Title 18, United States Code, defines child pornography as any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor – someone under 18 years of age,” Fox informed. “Visual depictions include photographs, videos, digital or computer-generated images indistinguishable from an actual minor, and images created, adapted or modified, but appear to depict an identifiable, actual minor. Undeveloped film, undeveloped videotape and electronically stored data that can be converted into a visual image of child pornography are also deemed illegal visual depictions under federal law.”

It was also stressed that the film cannot be discounted as being child porn just because the two young girls did not engage in sex.

“Notably, the legal definition of sexually explicit conduct does not require that an image depict a child engaging in sexual activity,” Fox continued. “A picture of a naked child may constitute illegal child pornography if it is sufficiently sexually suggestive. Additionally, the age of consent for sexual activity in a given state is irrelevant – any depiction of a minor under 18 years of age engaging in sexually explicit conduct is illegal.”

She is confident that Netflix will not be able to defend itself in any child pornography investigation over the film – if the law is applied correctly.

“On this definition alone, Netflix is in violation of distributing child pornography because the child in question is very clearly engaging in the sexual act of masturbation and this exceeds the minimum requirement of merely being suggestive,” Fox pointed out. “Netflix should be in serious trouble over this. The law further states that the law ‘prohibits the production, distribution, reception and possession of an image of child pornography using or affecting any means or facility of interstate or foreign commerce.’”

Netflix needs to clean up its act

The latest addition to Netflix’s offerings is said to fall in line with the way the profligate company is run.

“Netflix is now distributing child porn for profit,” Fox argued. “This is not surprising to anyone who read my expose on Netflix’s original series, Big Mouth, which is nothing but a cartoon that grooms kids for child abuse. It is a hideous and outrageous piece of garbage that includes talking genitalia of children, children telling jokes about [oral sex], and about … masturbation.”

She would not be surprised if Netflix took the next step of indecency and immorality.

“The obvious next step for Netflix is real-life children engaging in sexual activity,” Fox insisted. “The question[s] must be asked, ‘How low can the entertainment industry go, and what kind of parents took money for their child to be used in this way?”

Tweeting outrage

Adding to the call to remove the film, terminate subscriptions and begin a probe, appalled and shocked viewers of Desire shared their outrage via social media to put more pressure on Netflix.

“@Netflix WHY ARE YOU OFFERING KIDDIE PORN???” Vicious St. Bernard tweeted Netflix for an answer on Thursday –before asking the DOJ to look into the matter. “#Desire @FBI @TheJusticeDept PLEASE investigate.”

The following warning was issued by a female Twitter user:

“Watch the first few minutes of the movie Desire from Netflix promotion of pedophilia absolutely disgusting!!” Twitter user TamiAnn posted Wednesday. “Parents should be arrested for this scene alone!!”

One repulsed female viewer of the film threatened to end her subscription to Netflix if it does not take action … soon.

“@netflix, You need to remove the film Desire from your service IMMEDIATELY,” Nicole tweeted Wednesday. “You are MAKING AVAILABLE CHILD PORN by leaving this film up. I am DISGUSTED and will be canceling my service if this is not fixed ASAP. What is wrong with you?!”

The legal issue was brought up in another tweet.

“It’s illegal to stream child porn,” Lex_511 posted on Twitter Thursday. “@Netflix is under investigation for doing so. So glad I cancelled my subscription 2 months ago.”

Another advised against enjoying the convenience of Netflix streaming at the expense of funding potential child porn.

“Yeah Netflix isn’t worth the money when they put up borderline child porn,” XD tweeted Thursday.

One person challenged Netflix to try and explain putting such an abhorrent movie in its streaming lineup.

“@netflix, Care to comment on the allegations of streaming perceived child porn?” Recreational Nuke asked Netflix Thursday on Twitter.

Netflix’s illicit legacy …

With many films on Netflix’s movie list receiving poor ratings and intense criticism – Kaplan’s Desire received four out of 10 stars – it came as no surprise that another movie recently released by the popular streaming company also contains the sexual exploitation of children.

“Earlier this year, the film Show Dogs faced a backlash over claims that some of the scenes resembled sexual abuse,” the United Kingdom’s Daily Mail recounted. “The National Center on Sexual Exploitation in the U.S. slammed the film, saying it ‘sends a troubling message that grooms children for sexual abuse.’”

But the controversial film reportedly evaded being held accountable for inciting sexual crimes.

“Director Dawn Hawkins said [Show Dogs] was ‘rewarded’ for withstanding the inspection of its private part, saying child abusers used similar tactics,” the Daily Mail’s Tim Stickings noted.
