Let’s be grateful we have a president who understands that too.

Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards is reported to be stepping down from the nation’s top abortion organization next week. The disturbing company is somehow still using taxpayer dollars for funding despite blockbuster reports that doctors sought to capitalize on abortion through the sale of human body parts.

And somehow, in this twisted national fight, pro-life Americans are called monsters for protesting the existence of the organization.

Many pro-lifers work tirelessly to try to change the presumed national opinion on abortion. Many, like me, believe there will never be an end to abortion until the practice can be seen by all as immoral and unjust, while abortion activists describe the torturous practice as a right and a moral good.

Those same arguments, by the way, were used by pro-slavery activists and politicians in the mid-1800s. And those arguments directly contradict the words of the Declaration of Independence. They did then, and they do now.

In his address to the March for Life, President Donald Trump hit the nail on the head when he drew from the Declaration of Independence: “Under my administration, we will always defend the very first right in the Declaration of Independence, and that is the right to life.”

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

While pro-lifers stand by these crystal-clear truths, many, many women and men have been convinced that the right to life does not extend to the unborn and have erected rhetorical walls, thin arguments, and false comparisons to protect the practice of abortion. Yet there is a right to life, and without it, there are no rights.

But try telling a rabid pro-abort that life begins at conception, God is involved, and there are truths that are always true, as noted in our Declaration of Independence. They will attack you for diminishing so-called “women’s rights.”

They will attack the Founding as brought about by privileged white men and say that women were not given rights in the Declaration of Independence because they were second-class citizens, the words of the Founding are outdated, and besides, court rulings have decided in their favor.

But we have these things called truths.

In order to preserve a clearly evil industry, we have had our minds and hearts constantly attacked and broken down by the utterances of deadly serious champions of evil who say known truths are lies and hold lies as unequivocal truth.

Those calling for independence from Britain in the 1700s recognized certain truths, among others, as self-evident, or obvious. It was obviously true for all who signed the Declaration of Independence that God gave man the right to Life. Is that now a lie?

The abortion fanatics sidestep this entire issue, of course, by claiming that everyone who mentions God and the creation of life is a religious zealot. But many of the Founders, namely Thomas Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration of Independence, were notably non-religious, perhaps even anti-religious. Nevertheless, their acceptance that God is the higher power that gives us the right to life and liberty is the only reason America could have been founded at all.

This nation, if it is to survive, cannot accept the pro-abort view that man has evolved since the Declaration of Independence, that there is no Creator, that there are no rights, and that truths can be accepted one year, then thrown out the next.

This nation must stand for life, and we ought to be very grateful that we have a president who believes that too.
