Praise and Heavenly Music

“Where were you,” God asked Job, “when I founded the earth . . . while the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” (Job 38:4, 7).

The angels invite us to sing in praise of creation. The Catechism of the Catholic Church tells us that “the com­position and singing of inspired psalms, often accompanied by musical instruments, were already closely linked to the liturgical celebrations of the Old Covenant.
