(CNS News) — Commenting on the upcoming presidential election, Bishop Joseph Strickland, head of the Catholic Diocese of Tyler, Texas, said that all “other issues” depend on a moral, social foundation that supports the sanctity of life, “true marriage,” the nuclear family, and sexual morality “based on biblical truth.”

Those “moral truths” should guide people in making their decision on Election Day.

In a Sept. 18 tweet, the bishop said, “GET OVER IT….this election is about the Sanctity of Life, true marriage between a man & a woman, supporting the nuclear family and sexual morality based on biblical truth….

“[A]ll other issues depend on this moral foundation,” he said, “choose the party that supports these MORAL TRUTHS.”

Bishop Strickland, 61, was appointed to lead the Diocese of Tyler, Texas, in 2012 by then-Pope Benedict XVI.  …
