A conservative columnist believes the continued nationwide shutdown could end up hurting more people than the coronavirus itself.

Several countries, including Spain and Austria, have already begun reopening some of their economies, which have been devastated by the worldwide shutdown brought on by the coronavirus. In the United States, infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci recently said parts of the country could gradually reopen as early as next month.

Robert Knight, a conservative activist and a columnist for The Washington Times, says there should not be a one-size-fits-all kind of attitude.

“Not everyplace is New York City,” he points out. “Why should Wyoming or Nevada be under the same restrictions as New York City, which is highly densely populated? I think that was wrong from the beginning. There should have been more local input. There should have been less panic, to tell you the truth, as far as restricting all work places so that the economy ground to a halt. We’re paying a heavy price for that.”  ….
