A number of nations are fighting vigorously against a United Nations document that fits nicely within the left-wing progressive movement.
The U.N. Commission on the Status of Women has been meeting this week at its headquarters in New York City to come up with a new document that social conservatives hope will eventually be dumped.
Sharon Slater of Family Watch International pointed out that negotiations centered on several topics – only one of which is “safe abortions” … an oxymoron used to advance abortion.
“There are six references to sexual and reproductive health – or ‘rights,’” Slater informed. “There are several references to reproductive rights – and these are all terms that are used to promote abortion in countries across the world. One of the biggest things we’ve been fighting is comprehensive sexuality education.”
Teaching – or indoctrination – on so-called “comprehensive sexuality education” tends to encourage children to experiment … and then abort when an unwanted or unexpected pregnancy occurs.
Slater is working with a number of countries to oppose all of the left-leaning language.
“The African countries work as a voting block,” the international pro-life activist pointed out. “Russia actually is fairly good on family and life issues. The Caribbean countries sometimes vote as a block in supporting pro-life, and pro-family people would want them to be. [Then] you have the Holy See, who has observer status – playing a key role in promoting what’s good and fighting what’s bad.”
Slater maintains that the final outcome could follow several paths. The one that is desired most by traditional values groups is a U.N. document that is rejected outright – or simply trashed.
