Those On the Left Cannot Thwart the Pro-Life Movement

By Shawn Carney, Lifezette, April 7, 2019

Twitter tried to censor it into oblivion. Hollywood gave it an R rating to deter viewers. The leftist media even refused to air commercials.

Now they’re clamoring about how it’s an over-exaggeration, all because up until now, they’d never looked abortion in the face prior to “Unplanned.”

The pathetic and elementary prohibitions of free speech couldn’t stop the success of this movie. The big turnout we saw on opening weekend for this film was a reflection of how sick people are of Hollywood trying to bully them into their walk-on-eggshells, politically correct world. Twitter will certainly think twice next time before suspending accounts with pro-life messages, as it did for “Unplanned.”

In case you haven’t heard, Pure Flix’s latest movie, “Unplanned,” released to 1,000 limited theaters on March 29, crushed all expectations and will be in 1,700 this weekend.

It’s doing so well that no sources can deny the film blew expectations out of the water.

Despite the social media propaganda against this film, “Unplanned” performed better than most other movies that opened the same weekend. And it’s already Pure Flix’s second biggest opening, right after “God’s Not Dead,” which grossed $64.7 million overall against a $2 million budget.

As expected, following the movie’s success, which was unprecedented in the eyes of secular audiences, leftist sources are rearing up, ready to “explain” why “Unplanned” is a movie that “just isn’t for them.”

To nobody’s surprise, they are demarking the movie as a worst-case-scenario, over-the-top portrayal of how the abortion industry works.

If so, why wasn’t Planned Parenthood able to stop the production or the release of this film? Because the movie is accurate. I lived it. It tells the story of real-life former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson (shown at the top of this article). I’ll never forget when Abby came into my office next door after I had known her for eight years as a Planned Parenthood director.

Hollywood can’t kid themselves anymore after the release of this film, which reveals the barbaric nature of abortion and what goes on behind the scenes of a very unregulated and tax-funded abortion industry.

Hollywood is not happy.

They thought few people would see it due to the R rating for graphic content; so many have pointed out the discrepancy. Jack Posobeic tweeted out common sense that can’t be stated enough about the film’s R rating: “To be clear: In this country, teenagers can get an abortion without their parents’ consent, but they need their parents’ consent to see @UnplannedMovie, a movie that tells the truth about abortion. Let that sink in.”

So, if Twitter, Hollywood and leftist reviews can’t stop this movie’s success, what will?

The answer was already delivered during opening weekend. “Unplanned” isn’t scary because it has an R rating and has garnered support from influential voices; this movie is terrifying because it makes people look abortion in the face. And when that happens, minds and hearts are changed. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the media are now hanging their heads in embarrassment after another failed attempt to shield society from the unstoppable pro-life movement.

America has made “Unplanned” a success in spite of Hollywood, the media, and Twitter.

At 40 Days for Life, starting as early as Saturday morning of opening weekend, we saw a surge of new volunteers coming out to pray peacefully outside of abortion clinics and pray to see those clinics close and abortion come to an end.

It’s clear that Hollywood did not like “Unplanned” from the start; we’ve known that for a while. But now we know they don’t have to like it. The real influence are the Americans who don’t live in Hollywood, but live, rather, in America.

They know not to listen but to go, see for themselves, and decide for themselves. That America has made “Unplanned” a success in spite of Hollywood, the media, and Twitter.
