The Vatican would have decided to dismiss the Bishop of Arecibo (Puerto Rico), Msgr. Daniel Fernández Torres, who defended conscientious objection to vaccines against COVID-19.

According to a source familiar with the facts told ACI Prensa, the dismissal would take effect shortly, given the 57-year-old Puerto Rican bishop’s refusal to submit his resignation.

Bishops are required to submit their resignation to the pope at age 75, as established by canon 401 of the Code of Canon Law, the law of the Church. If they do it before, there must be a serious reason, which is usually for health reasons. …
