Walmart has launched a “gay dating” video as part of an advertising campaign – a corporate move that the American Family Association says likely has Walmart founder Sam Walton “rolling over in his grave.”

The retail giant has posted an online video that normalizes homosexual relationships. The video – posted on Facebook – is part of an ad campaign called “Love is in the aisle: A dating show at Walmart.” The ad features “Pat” and “Andy,” two homosexual men on a “blind date” as they meet at the store, embrace, and then shop together. The objective, according to the video, is “to see if love is in the aisle.”

OneNewsNow spoke with AFA first vice president Buddy Smith. “We’re very disappointed in Walmart with this video that’s actually two-and-a-half minutes long; so it’s not just a few seconds of an ad that normalizes homosexual relationships,” he says.

Smith

“It’s not only a promotion of homosexuality, but it’s really an attack on God’s design for marriage between a man and a woman,” Smith continues. “We believe it’s a very dangerous lifestyle; and the fact that Walmart would release this kind of video is even more in the face of Christian people who believe in God’s design for human sexuality.”

AFA has launched a petition through which concerned individuals can urge Walmart and CEO Doug McMillon to remove the pro-homosexual video and remain neutral on controversial issues:

“It’s clear that Walmart is on the path of elevating homosexual relationships to the same level as the male-female model of marriage,” the petition addresses McMillon. “Walmart’s shift away from neutrality on this controversial issue to full support for same-sex relationships is something Sam Walton would never have approved of.”

In an Action Alert to its supporters this morning, AFA acknowledges that Walmart isn’t the first large corporation to reject the traditional model of marriage in its marketing.

“But [we] never thought Walmart would join the cultural revolution and reject the beliefs of its customer base,” states the Action Alert. “This seems more like a betrayal from a well-known friend.”

Smith concludes: “There is no doubt in our mind that Sam Walton is turning over in his grave. This is really an attack from Walmart upon [traditional] values – an attack that Mr. Walton himself would highly question.”

The Action Alert also provides a phone number for Walmart Headquarters so people can “let Walmart know” how disappointed they are in the company.
