By Fr. Mike Schmitz, Ascension Presents, Aug 29, 2018
In a follow-up to his video last week, “Sex Abuse Scandal and the Church” (https://bit.ly/2BZnMIE), Fr. Mike emphasizes that if we are to have true reform in the Catholic Church, it’s going to have start with the conversion of our own hearts. Anyone can and should condemn the sins of the priests and cardinals that have been all over the news. The real challenge is to ask God what he is expecting us to do within this time, our time, in history. If he has created us to live in these difficult times for Catholics, he must be calling us to some great task to help bring renewal to his Church and individual souls.

CHINA. Shaanxi Province. 1992. Han Ying Fang, 71 years old, is a fifth-generation Catholic in her family. During the Cultural Revolution, the Red Army raided Catholic homes, confiscating Bibles and other religious references. If the order was not obeyed during a given period, Catholics were severely punished at town meetings. At the time, when Hang Ying Fang's husband was still alive, he took the risk of hiding this crucifixion in the ceiling. It has survived until this day.
