Rev. Graham: If SPLC Doesn’t Like Your Moral Views, You’re a ‘Hater’

In a comment about the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which purports to monitor hate groups, evangelical leader Franklin Graham said the organization was smearing Christian groups that oppose gay marriage and critics of radical Islam, noting that Apple CEO Tim Cook, an open homosexual, has donated $1 million to the SPLC and established a donation button for the group at Apple’s iTunes digital store.

“A hate group? Can you believe this—The Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, AL, has labeled a number of Christian groups such as D. James Kennedy Ministries [1], and the Family Research Council[2] run by my good friend Tony Perkins [3] as ‘hate’ groups,” said Rev. Graham in an Aug. 30 post on Facebook [4].

“Why?” he asked.  “Simply because they hold to the teaching of God’s Word on moral issues such as homosexuality and same-sex marriage.”

In 2012, domestic terrorist Floyd Corkins shot up the Family Research Council (FRC), seriously wounding a security guard, and later told the FBI [5] that he learned of the FRC’s opposition to “gay groups” through the “Hate Map [6]” posted at the SPLC’s website.

Rev. Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham, further said, “They even speak disparagingly against Ayaan Hirsi Ali [7], a woman who was born into a Muslim family in Somalia and bravely speaks out against the dangers and oppression of women in Islam. Because she dares to speak against what Islam has done to her and other women, she is being accused of hate speech! Incredible.”

“As Kimberley Strassel said in the The Wall Street Journal [8],” noted Graham, “‘If the SPLC doesn’t agree with your views, it tags you as a hater.'”

“The SPLC has the funding of Apple [9] CEO Tim Cook and financial giant J.P. Morgan, and is a media favorite,” said Rev. Graham. “Who is the real hate group here?

Last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook [10], an open homosexual, said Apple would donate $1 million to the SPLC and $1 million to the Anti-Fedamation League (ADL). He also announced that people could give to the SPLC through a donate button at Apple’s iTunes online store.

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon [11] also announced last week that the financial services company was donating $1 million to the SPLC and the ADL. Although the ADL states that its mission is “to stop the defamation of the Jewish people, and to secure justice and fair treatment to all,” the organization strongly supports homosexual “marriage” and a variety of other gay issues, as well as liberal immigration policies, and abortion across the board.

In 2013, the ADL’s Abe Foxman blasted the Family Research Council, the American Family Association, the Alliance Defense Fund, and Focus on the Family for supposedly trying to “Christianize America [12].”
