In a time where evil and darkness are immense, God’s grace and mercy are all the more available to sinners. Besides frequent, devout and prayerful reception of the sacraments of confession and the Holy Eucharist, devotion to the “Three Hearts” is a way for people to achieve great holiness.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has existed since the beginning of the Church. But it was invigorated when Our Lord appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in France, starting in 1673.

In June 1675, Our Lord told her about how He is treated by His children, saying, “Behold this Heart, which has so loved men that It spared nothing, even going so far as to exhaust and consume Itself, to prove to them Its love.”

“And in return,” He continued, “I receive from the greater part of men nothing but ingratitude, by the contempt, irreverence, sacrileges and coldness with which they treat Me in this Sacrament of Love.” …
