Although Bishop Earl Fernandes of Columbus has encouraged a “yes” vote on Tuesday’s ballot Issue 1, the Catholic Bishops of Ohio say they have no position on the measure “as it does not have moral content.” But that measure, which will make amendments to Ohio’s constitution harder to achieve, is itself designed to stop a November initiative that would constitutionally enshrine abortion rights.
