Today the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops published a documented entitled “DEI Means God.” The document was authored by by Bishop Roy E. Campbell Jr., an auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C.

Campbell was ordained a bishop by Cardinal Donald Wuerl in 2017. Wuerl was later forced to resign in disgrace when he was implicated in the sexual abuse scandal cover-up in 2018.

The DEI document appears to equate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to the nature of God. The timing of the release of the document is especially strange, given the large number of U.S. companies who have recently abandoning their DEI programs after backlash from the general public. Perhaps our bishops need to hear some feedback from faithful Catholics to follow suit.
