American Liberty’s 250th: ‘A Republic, if You Can Keep It’, by Mark Alexander
July 2, 2026
Dear Brown Pelican Patron,
After twenty years of faithful service, Brown Pelican Society of Louisiana announces a new chapter in its Mission. After the celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the Country, July 4, 2026, Brown Pelican Society of Louisiana website will be discontinued as we transition from online news and commentary to addressing unmet needs within the Catholic Church, primarily in South Louisiana, but supporting Catholic apostolates both Nationally and Internationally.
Although Brown Pelican Society of Louisiana will embark upon a robust agenda of initiatives, one of the many unmet needs we have identified is to inculcate our patrons and our followers with proper catechesis and formation as the Catholic Laity.
As Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (before becoming Pope Benedict XVI) predicted, the Catholic Church would become smaller – but more faithful, purified and spiritually vibrant. He wrote: The Church “will become small and will have to start afresh…” It would lose social privilege but become more authentic and spiritually focused.
Your patronage over these past twenty years has been truly invaluable. Whether you visited the Brown Pelican website occasionally or journeyed with us from the beginning, you have been an essential part of this Mission. We hope you will continue supporting Brown Pelican as we embark on this next phase of Ministry work which we are confident will be a success with your prayers.
Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for believing in our mission, and above all, thank you for your Witness to Faith and Life.
God Bless,
David J. Lukinovich
