Spiritual warfare, an important part of Christian life, demands vigilance and perseverance. But, it also helps us live in the peace and joy of the Beatitudes. The theme of “spiritual warfare” runs through Sacred Scripture, and is also part of the teaching of Tradition and the Magisterium. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states:
“Baptism, by imparting the life of Christ’s grace, erases original sin and turns a man back towards God, but the consequences for nature, weakened and inclined to evil, persist in man and summon him to spiritual battle.” (CCC, 405, emphasis ours) …
