A conversation with Ilyas Khanis, the founder of the world’s largest and leading quantum computing company, about what AI is (and is not), why it has captured our imagination, and what AI means for humanity.

Ilyas Khan is the founder of Quantinuum, the world’s largest and leading quantum computing company. Quantinuum is an Anglo-USA quantum computing company with joint headquarters in Colorado and Cambridge(Great Britain).

Ilyas was the Chairman of the Stephen Hawking Foundation and was also the founding Chairman of the Topos Institute, which is based in Berkeley, California. Both the Stephen Hawking Foundation and Topos—a research institute taking a uniquely mathematical approach to generating technology for the benefit of society as a whole—are not-for-profit organisations.

Ilyas grew up in Lancashire in the North of England. He was made a Knight of St Gregory by Pope Francis, and is a notable speaker and commentator on matters relating to Ai and Quantum Computing. His account of converting from Islam to Catholicism was published by CWR in 2012. …
