The claim of many on the Left who support Joe Biden’s de facto open border is that it is a humane policy of compassion toward the plight of migrants seeking safety and a better life. And to muddy the waters even further, they insist that since America is a nation of immigrants, we have no right to keep other immigrants out. They often follow this by asserting that apprehending illegal aliens is motivated by racism.

Indeed, it is based on this dubious logic that a number of Democrat-run cities and states have identified themselves as “sanctuary” regions in which illegal aliens are supposedly more than welcome. …
