Where Coach Goes After the Game: How the legendary football coach has played a critical role in helping the university’s faith community grow.

Jack FiggeTUSCALOOSA, Ala. — When Father Tom Ackerman watched University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban support 2009 Heisman winner Mark Ingram at the televised award ceremony in New York, he assumed that Coach Saban would not be at Sunday Mass the next morning. But much to his surprise, there was Coach Saban and his wife, Terry, sitting in their usual pew at St. Francis of Assisi parish.

Saban recently retired as the head football coach at the University of Alabama. During his storied career, Saban led Alabama to six National Championships during his 17 years as head coach. …
