Billy Graham’s Last Message to America and the World: “Grasp the Truth of the Cross”

“With all my heart I want to leave you with the truth.”

Rev. Billy Graham left us today. Left us for the loving embrace of his Lord Jesus. Rev. Graham prepared us for this day, once saying, “Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead — don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.”

Rev. Graham did not go without leaving one final lesson. On his 96th birthday in 2015, he released what is called “Billy Graham’s Last Message to America & the World.”

His message: Grasp the truth of the Cross. “We deserve the Cross. We deserve hell. We deserve judgement and all that means.” Yet Jesus Christ took that torture upon himself. Took all our sin. This is how much God loves us.

Said Rev. Graham, “The Cross is offensive because it directly confronts the evil which dominates so much of this world. It demands a new lifestyle in all of us.” His final plea to and prayer for a nation and world he served for generations: “Turn from your sin. Turn to Jesus Christ.”
