On Echeverria’s ‘Redeeming Sex’, by Casey Chalk

By Casey Chalk, The Catholic Thing - The gym is a near occasion of sexual temptation. At least mine is. Whenever I go, this husband and father of six, who is waging a losing battle against the notorious “dad bod,” has to navigate around scores of attractive twenty- and thirty-something females wearing clothes that in an earlier, more “prudish” age, would have been considered embarrassingly inappropriate for mixed settings. I just do my best to keep focused on the reps and reading my Magnificat between sets.

Fr. Shenan J. Boquet: Humanae Vitae Today

By Fr. Shenan J. Boquet, Human Life International - The central purpose of Humanae vitae is easily summarized and is well-known by many. In brief, it reiterates the long-standing Catholic and Christian belief in God’s plan for married love and the transmission of life—reasserting the moral impermissibility of contraception that attacks the procreative nature and unitive aspect of marriage... As Pope Paul VI stated, we cannot morally justify “any action which either before, at the moment of, or after sexual intercourse, is specifically intended to prevent procreation—whether as an end or as a means.”

Should We Be Concerned About America’s Declining Birthrate? by Thomas Gallatin

By Thomas Gallatin, Patriot Post - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new data showing that the U.S. dropped to an all-time low birth rate in 2024, as the average number of children a woman gives birth to in the country decreased to 1.6%. That places the U.S. in the same territory as many Western European nations, signaling growing concerns about population decline, as the birth rate required to maintain a stable population is 2.1 children per woman. This is a huge problem … unless you want mass migration.

Family Life: The Ultimate School of Faith and Holiness, by Dr. Jeff Mirus

By Dr. Jeff Mirus, Catholic Culture - I have been discussing how to draw others to Christ and the Church, but when it comes to forming people as committed Catholics who will devote themselves to doing God’s will throughout their lives, nothing beats the family. It never fails to astonish me how frequently Catholics tend to ignore this fundamental factor in the salvation of their children. The Catholic family is the ultimate school of holiness for any and all paths in life, and young people who start life without a solid formation in both love and grace suffer an enormous disadvantage when navigating the temptations of the world, the flesh and the devil.
