Remember Gideon?

He won a war by following the word and the will of the Lord, rather than through military strategy or normal logistics.

Remember Our Lady?

She conceived by the Word and the Spirit of God, not by normal means, and gave birth to the salvation of the world.

Remember Moses?

He won against Pharaoh by prayer, by prophetic act and utterance, by doing what God commanded, not by mustering the Israelites into an army.

The power of prayer

We tend to treat prayer as a last resort, as a desperate measure, as though it were not the most powerful means of causing change in ourselves and in the world available to us. We make the same mistakes as the modern mainstream news, treating politics, economics, and earthly pleasures as the truly real, truly important things. …
