(CNSNews.com) – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D.-N.Y.) sent out a tweet on Friday that linked to an Associated Press story about Gov. Ron DeSantis (R.-Fla.) signing legislation that bans abortion after the unborn child has a detectable heartbeat—which occurs about six weeks into pregnancy.
“The MAGA GOP is hell-bent on banning abortion across the country,” Schumer said.
The Florida law that DeSantis signed is called the Heartbeat Protection Act.
“We are proud to support life and family in the state of Florida,” DeSantis said in a statement. “I applaud the Legislature for passing the Heartbeat Protection Act that expands pro-life protections and provides additional resources for young mothers and families.” …
