CV NEWS FEED // President-elect Donald Trump announced today that he has nominated CatholicVote President Brian Burch as U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See.

Trump posted on Truth Social:

“I am pleased to announce that Brian Burch will serve as the next United States Ambassador to the Holy See. Brian is a devout Catholic, a father of nine, and President of CatholicVote. He has received numerous awards, and demonstrated exceptional leadership, helping build one of the largest Catholic advocacy groups in the Country. He represented me well during the last Election, having garnered more Catholic votes than any Presidential Candidate in History! Brian loves his Church and the United States– He will make us all proud. Congratulations to Brian, his wife Sara, and their incredible family!”

Burch co-founded CatholicVote in 2005, a lay advocacy group dedicated to inspiring Catholics across the nation to bring their faith into public life. The organization has since grown into a leading voice for Catholic advocacy, engaging millions of Catholics in the United States and internationally. Burch’s leadership has been recognized with various awards, such as the Cardinal John O’Connor Defender of the Faith Award from Legatus and the St. Juan Diego Leadership Award from The Catholic Professional Global Network.

In response to his nomination, Burch expressed both gratitude and a sense of responsibility.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to have been nominated by President Trump to serve as the United States Ambassador to the Holy See,” Burch said. “Words cannot express my gratitude to all those that have helped me achieve this nomination, most especially my wife Sara, my 9 beautiful children, my CatholicVote team, and all those who supported me in this journey. I am especially grateful to the example of my father, who passed to eternal life this past June, who taught me to love the Church and the profound blessings and responsibilities of being a citizen of the United States.”

Burch attended Catholic schools his entire life, including Most Holy Trinity, St. Thomas the Apostle, and St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated with a degree in Political Philosophy from the University of Dallas in 1997.

He also serves as President of Seton Academy Catholic Montessori School in Villa Park, Illinois.

Looking ahead to his new role, Burch emphasized the significance of the relationship between the United States and the Holy See.

“The role of Ambassador is to represent the government of the United States in its relations with the Holy See. The Catholic Church is the largest and most important religious institution in the world, and its relationship to the United States is of vital importance,” Burch said. “I am committed to working with leaders inside the Vatican and the new Administration to promote the dignity of all people and the common good. I look forward to the confirmation process and the opportunity to continue to serve my country and the Church. To God be the glory.”

All presidential nominations for ambassador must be confirmed by the United States Senate.
