In an attempt to counter Republican lawmakers’ efforts to exert more federal control over DC’s law enforcement, Democrats claim that Trump’s crackdown had little to do with crime dropping.

Democrats are unwilling to own up to the high crime in the cities that they have long governed, such as Chicago and Washington, DC. However, as soon as Republicans respond and crack down on high crime, they are quick to jump to own the results of the crackdown.

Donald Trump’s recent crime crackdown in DC serves as a perfect example of this phenomenon.

When Trump issued his emergency, taking temporary control of DC’s Metropolitan Police Department and sending in the National Guard to help with the crime crackdown effort, Democrats screamed “constitutional crisis” and asserted that it was a “fascist” takeover of the city. Furthermore, they contended that there was no serious crime problem, despite data that suggested otherwise. …
