Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, “Sacrifices and offerings thou hast not desired, but a body hast thou prepared for me; in burnt offerings and sin offerings thou hast taken no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Lo, I have come to do thy will, O God,’ as it is written of me in the roll of the book.” (Hebrews 10:5-7)
The love of God for each of us is so great that He entered creation and united a human nature to His Divine Nature in order to give His life so that we might live.
The act of God becoming man, what we call the Incarnation, is so great an act of selfless love that we revere it in a special way. It is the focus of our prayer three times daily in the Angelus. We bow during the recitation of the Creed during Sunday Mass when we say the words, “and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.” …
