Don Samuele CecottiOn March 8th, 1983, United States President Ronald Reagan gave a powerful speech to the annual convention of the National Association of Evangelicals gathered in Orlando, Florida to reiterate the Christian identity of the United States and the Atheist threat of the USSR. It was on this occasion that Reagan defined the USSR as an “Evil Empire”.

President Reagan reiterated to American Evangelicals what he said on the 8th of June, 1982 before the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. The Cold War was interpreted as a war of civilizations between the Christian West and the Atheist-Marxist Soviet world.

It is important to underline what the president says about the war of civilizations:

-about the USSR
-about what the United States are/should be
-about the dangers inside the United States
