Washington, DC – The Department of Health and Human Services today issued its updated definition of sex for all federal agencies and the public. The new guidance makes it clear that human life begins at conception.

The guidance was issued to make it clear there are only two biological sexes, but the confirmation also makes it clear that that establishment of the sex of a human being – this the life of a human being – begins at conception.

“The sex of a human, male or female, is determined genetically at conception (fertilization) and is observable before birth,” it reads.
