Answering a question about the fraying social fabric of America and Robert Putnam’s book “Bowling Alone,” during a Saturday CNN interview, Hillary Clinton voiced her support for the repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Act of 1934, which has been interpreted to offer immunity for social media platforms over content posted by members of the general public.

“We should be repealing something called Section 230, which gave platforms on the internet immunity because they were thought to be just pass-throughs — that they shouldn’t be judged for the content that is posted,” Clinton said, followed by this quote that has been widely shared on social media as an attack on free speech: “These platforms… if they don’t moderate and monitor the content, we lose total control.” …
